Jay has been giving piano lessons to students of all ages and skill levels since 1999. He is a patient, dedicated and enthusiastic piano teacher. He strives to develop the full musical potential of each and every student. His goal as an educator is to help students express themselves, take pleasure in making music, and develop the skills to make music independently for a lifetime.
Lessons are offered on a weekly basis in 30, 45, or 60 minute increments. Beginner students will learn strong fundamentals including technique, how to read music, and music theory. Jay works with parents and students to choose repertoire and develop an individual curriculum based on the student’s age, skill, and interests. Jay believes that experience performing is important to a student’s development. He encourages interested students and helps prepare them to play in different venues, including recitals and local student musician festivals.
As a professional musician, Jay has developed unique insights regarding practicing and performing that he instills in his students. He is constantly striving to further develop his skills as a music educator by taking an active role in professional organizations and attending music conferences.
